Description:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved training program in Ultrasonography required. Current Sonography Canada registration. BCLS certifications required. Demonstrated proficient organizational, technical, interpersonal, communication and computer skills required. Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility, to work effectively both independently and within a team environment required. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations required. Demonstrated interest in professional growth required. Demonstrated ability in the areas of perception, initiative, judgement and concern for detail and accuracy required. Demonstrated ability in the use of tact, courtesy and professionalism with patients, staff and physician required
Preferred Qualifications:
Hospital experiences an asset. Vascular experience an asset.
