We’re looking for a Data Security Analyst to take ownership of how we protect and govern our company’s critical information. This is a high-impact, mid-senior role where you’ll combine hands-on technical control management with governance and compliance responsibilities. You’ll be the go-to subject matter expert for data security, operating and tuning our data protection platforms, leading incident response for data-related threats, and driving governance practices for classification, labelling, retention, and regulatory compliance.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Own the Data Security function from operational control management to governance policy implementation.
- Operate and optimize data protection tools, including DLP, classification, encryption, and information protection platforms.
- Lead containment, remediation, and recovery for data-related security incidents.
- Align controls and processes with NIST CSF, ISO 27001/27701, and privacy regulations (PIPEDA, GDPR).
- Maintain the company’s information classification and labelling framework.
- Partner with IT, SOC, and governance teams to improve data protection practices across the organization.
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend control improvements.
- Provide governance and compliance training to business and technical teams.
WHAT WILL YOU NEED?
- A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in information security analysis, with 3+ years in data security, protection, or governance-related roles.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, SC-200, SC-400, CIPT, CIPM, CDPSE, CCSP are highly desirable.
- Certifications in Security+, CySA+, CASP+, or equivalent foundational certifications are considered an asset.
- Experience with cybersecurity tools and platforms such as Check Point, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Purview.
- Proven ability to identify, escalate, and respond to data security incidents effectively and efficiently.
- Experience with contributing to and configuring data governance and security controls and policies.
- In-depth knowledge of data security tools and methodologies including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), classification, and governance.
