About the Role:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Educational Development, the Curriculum and Quality Enhancement Manager is responsible for providing oversight and facilitative support for departmental and Faculty-wide curriculum initiatives. The Manager will also oversee CPI’s assessment plan for understanding the impact and quality of work for curricular support. The incumbent contributes to initiatives both internally and externally related to the work of the Centre.
The Curriculum & Quality Enhancement Manager will:
- Coordinate with the office of the Vice-Provost & Associate Vice-President, Academic and Quality Assurance Manager to provide high level pedagogical support as part of the continuous improvement plan in the Institutional Quality Assurance Process (IQAP) reflected in academic units’ Self-Study documents for Cyclical Program Reviews (CPRs) and new Program Proposal Briefs (PPBs) prepared for external review;
- Manage the development, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services designed to address departmental and Faculty-level curricular needs (e.g., retreat design, prioritization processes for curriculum support for CPRs and PPBs);
- Facilitate individual, departmental, Faculty-level, and institution-wide initiatives or programs that promote the importance of curricular alignment (e.g., curriculum mapping, retreat facilitation, program review report requirements for CPRs and PPBs);
- Contribute to the development and implementation of institutional strategic initiatives regarding the enhancement of teaching and learning (e.g., curriculum mapping, assessing program level outcomes as part of the continuous improvement plan in the Institutional Quality Assurance Process);
- Represent the University on provincial, national, and/or international projects related to teaching, learning, or educational development as needed;
- Participate actively in relevant professional associations and conferences to reinforce and promote Brock’s leadership position and profile in pedagogical innovations and in the field of educational development;
- Conduct in-class teaching observations of faculty and instructors; conducts follow up meetings for feedback and intervention strategies; writes documentation for dossiers;
- Provide one-on-one consultations regarding teaching strategies, dossier development, course evaluation feedback and follow up strategies;
- Make recommendations on SoTL (scholarship of teaching and learning) literature and resources in response to faculty inquiry;
- Provide feedback to individuals and departments regarding the preparation of course outlines and student assessments.
Key Skills and Experience:
- A Master’s degree in higher education, a related field or equivalent experience;
- Professional experience executing numerous priorities and multiple projects;
- Demonstrated knowledge of theories and practices used in educational development, including curriculum development processes and tools, and awareness of emerging issues and areas of focus in the field;
- Demonstrated abilities with methods to assess programs, services, and organizational operations and with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods;
- Innovative and strategic thinker with a broad vision for the role of equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization in achieving teaching excellence in curriculum design;
- High degree of inter-departmental and external communications expertise to achieve University objectives;
- Demonstrated understanding of systemic accessibility issues and of the legal and legislative frameworks related to EDI, not limited to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA);
- Collaborative leadership style and a demonstrated track record of taking initiative, leading complex projects;
- Well-developed understanding of leading practices for advancing EDI and pedagogy in curriculum design;
- Proven project-management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and achieve objectives;
- Experience with and knowledge of federal and provincial research funding programs, with a particular focus on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
Preferred or Asset Skills:
- PhD;
- Experience in a post-secondary environment;
- Curriculum development or instructional experience;
- Demonstrated experience in a public sector or education environment.
Salary and Total Rewards:
- Job Grade M, Salary Scale ($73,245-$118,776);

- This is a permanent position that includes:
