The Royal Conservatory’s Glenn Gould School invites applications for the teaching of two non-music courses as part of the required breadth curriculum in the Bachelor of Music, Performance (Honours) program. We expect to hire up to two instructors from the applicant pool; depending on qualifications and fit, one candidate may be selected to teach both courses, or two candidates may each be assigned one.
We seek intellectually stimulating and engaging instructors who can introduce dedicated classical music performers to academic disciplines outside of music. We are especially interested in the following areas: psychology, world history, political science, world literature, and philosophy; however, other areas will also be considered, especially those with an interdisciplinary nature.
Each course meets once per week for 2 to 2.5 hours, with additional time expected for office hours.
What We're Looking For
- A PhD is required; ABD candidates will be considered.

- All teaching must be conducted on-site at the School’s campus at 273 Bloor Street West in Toronto.
- Reappointment may be possible, depending on curricular needs and teaching evaluations.
