The Lead Curriculum Quality Specialist provides in-scope leadership and coordination for the Curriculum Quality Specialist team. This role supports the operational excellence of the team, ensuring the quality and continuous improvement of academic programs and curricula at NAIT by mentoring team members, coordinating redevelopment initiatives, and ensuring the consistent application of quality assurance practices. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering collaboration across units and supporting the continuous improvement of curriculum development practices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the Curriculum Quality Specialist team.
  • Lead onboarding processes for new team members, focusing on operational workflows such as curriculum mapping and quality assurance procedures.
  • Coordinate program and curriculum redevelopment activities in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Deliver training and support to Curriculum Quality Specialists to ensure consistency and excellence in practice.
  • Contribute to the assignment and prioritization of work across the team.
  • Engage with other departments and units to assess and respond to requests for curriculum and instructional support.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in curriculum quality.


Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of curriculum development, instructional design, and quality assurance in post-secondary education.
  • Knowledge of effective leadership practices, including team mentorship, coaching, and performance support.
  • Understanding of how to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Familiarity with leading through influence in a cross-functional environment, particularly within post-secondary or adult education settings.
  • Knowledge of change management principles and strategies for implementing curriculum changes across diverse academic programs.
  • Familiarity with institutional and program-level quality assurance processes, including program review cycles, accreditation standards, and continuous improvement models.

  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills within a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and project coordination abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving institutional needs.
  • Ability to navigate and collaborate with academic departments, administrative units, and external partners to align curriculum initiatives with institutional goals.
  • Effective use of project planning tools and techniques, including task delegation, milestone tracking, and resource coordination in a team setting


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education.
  • Other degrees with educational components (eg. curriculum development, instructional design, educational studies, etc.) or degrees in combination with a certificate in adult learning or higher education may be considered in lieu of an education degree.
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Education focused on organizational leadership, educational leadership, change management, or strategic leadership in post-secondary or adult learning contexts an asset.
  • Completion of recognized leadership development programs an asset.
  • Teaching experience in adult learning environments is an asset.
  • Graduate degree in education an asset.


Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).


Remuneration: As outlined in the NASA Collective Agreement. (Classification – Leader I).


This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
