Take Your Career to New Heights with Flair Airlines

We’re here to make air travel affordable for everyone, and we’re looking for talented individuals who want to help us continue changing the industry for the better. As Canada’s most reliable airline, we're all about offering real value. As we continue to expand our network, increase flight frequencies, and introduce more services, we’re looking for passionate team members to help us in our mission to make air travel accessible for everyone. We know who we are, and we’re confident in our approach—but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Your Team:

Join Flair’s Procurement team, where strategic sourcing and operational efficiency directly impact our airline’s growth and performance. As the Category Manager – Fuel, you will play a critical role in monitoring and optimizing fuel efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Reporting to the Director, Procurement, this role requires strong analytical expertise, proven project management skills, and an understanding of jet fuel logistics and industry regulations.

You will be responsible for fuel efficiency oversight across the network, monitoring the implementation of fuel-saving measures, and identifying new opportunities for improvement. The role also includes leading the end-to-end sourcing, contracting, and category management processes for both fuel and non-fuel initiatives. You will develop and maintain supplier relationships, oversee contract lifecycles, and lead a permanent fuel efficiency working group with subject matter experts from across the organization.

This position is based on-site at our offices in Vancouver (YVR), Edmonton (YEG), or Calgary (YYC).

  • Develop fuel-saving policies and ensure compliance with those policies by all employees and external partners.
  • Lead the fuel efficiency group to identify new ways to enhance fuel efficiency.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to develop budgets, monitor fuel costs, and report on variances.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports on fuel consumption, costs, and operational performance indicators.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in fuel operations.
  • Provide recommendations on fuel management strategies and initiatives.

Category Management & Sourcing:

  • Lead sourcing initiatives, including competitive bid processes (RFx), supplier evaluations, and negotiations.
  • Develop and implement category strategies aligned with operational and financial objectives.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve best value, service levels, and risk mitigation.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency-driven procurement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business units to understand requirements and deliver procurement expertise that aligns with organizational needs.

Contract Management:

  • Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, executing, and managing contracts, NDAs, amendments, and addendums across multiple business units.
  • Input all contracts into a centralized contract management system to ensure version control, visibility, and access control.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of contracts and proactively manage upcoming renewals or terminations.
  • Monitor contract performance, address non-compliance, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all contract-related matters, providing guidance on the interpretation and application of contractual terms.
  • Identify and assess contractual risks, recommending and implementing mitigation strategies.

Supplier Relationship & Performance Management:

  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure high performance, service delivery, and compliance.
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews, addressing any performance gaps through corrective action plans.
