General Repair Technician (formerly Carpenter)
Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians! Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.
Responsible for…
The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways:
· Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
· Framing
· Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing
· Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included)
· Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
· Insulation and vapour barrier installation
· Being awesome, in general!
· Installation
· Doors
· Trim, moldings, and baseboards
· Hardware installation
· Cabinetry
What you bring
The GRT bring a host of abilities to their work with a ‘get it done!’ attitude.
Additional abilities required include:
· Experience working in construction environments
· Tools and the skills to use them
· Strong people and communication skills
· Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
· A safety mindset
· Valid drivers license
· Ability to pass a criminal record check
· Ability to communicate in English
Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:
· Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
· IICRC certification (restoration focus)
· WHMIS
· First Aid
Of Note
Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Experience:
- home renovation: 1 year (preferred)

- installing and repairing cabinets: 1 year (preferred)
- drywalling and finishing: 1 year (preferred)
