As an Analytical Technician, you will provide support to investigators and analysts to analyze and understand crime and social disorder trends, series and problems to provide recommendations based on the data. Primary duties include:

  • Compose in-depth profiles providing a comprehensive picture of an individual for intelligence and investigative operations and offender management.
  • Mine police and open-source data to complete profiles on Persons of Interest, Targets and Victims.
  • Provide up to date court, custody and warrant information on select offenders.
  • Provide up-to-date statistics and complete weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, as required.
  • Prepare pro-active opportunity reports highlighting district and citywide crime trends and situational awareness reports.
  • Production Order support including Excel based analysis and ArcGIS mapping.
  • Create and disseminate intelligence bulletins (both internal and external agency bulletins).
  • Support management and staff in obtaining and maintaining information for strategic reports, intelligence reports, tactical operations, performance measurement and workload analysis.
  • Respond to information requests from internal and external partners, often under tight deadlines and after re-prioritizing projects accordingly.
Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to investigative files and sensitive information which can be disturbing and stressful.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Social Sciences or a related field, with course work in human behaviour, social statistics and research methodology and a minimum of 2 years of experience which includes data mining skills.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics, research methodology, data structure and data management is required.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint is also required.
  • Knowledge of Niche Records Management System (SENTRY), Palantir, Justice Online Information Network (JOIN), Correctional Administration (ORCA) and Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and proficiency in OneNote, Provincial database systems (ROADS, VISTAS, CORES, SPIN II) would be assets.
  • Success in this position requires analytical thinking, efficiency and thoroughness, change management and coaching and development. An effective communicator with a focus on results and the ability to build strong relationships.
Pre-employment Requirements
  • An enhanced security clearance and pre-employment polygraph will be conducted.
  • Applicants will be tested for appropriate skills.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Compensation: Pay Grade 9 $40.18 - 53.76 per hour
Days of Work: This position works 4, 10 hour shifts in a
compressed 4 day work schedule. Some evening and
weekend work hours may be required. May be required to be on-call or called-out.

Hours of work: Non-Standard 40 hour work week
