In 1946, S. Truett Cathy, founder and Chairman of Chick-fil-A, Inc., started a single restaurant called “The Dwarf House” in the Atlanta suburb of Hapeville, Georgia. The Chick-fil-A trademark was patented in 1964, and the first Chick-fil-A restaurant was opened inside the Greenbriar Shopping Center in Atlanta, Georgia in 1967 (this was the beginning of the modern-day food court which is found in almost every mall today). Two more locations opened in 1969, and the growth has continued since that time. As a result of Truett’s innovation and personal commitment to both guests and Team Members, Chick-fil-A has grown into one of the largest family-owned and privately held restaurant chains in the United States and is continuing that growth into Canada. Chick-fil-A restaurants serve millions of guests every year, in more than 3,000 locations in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and UK.
