KPA Lawyers Professional Corporation is looking to hire an Articling Student to join our well-established practice.
The successful candidate will play a critical role within the practice, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic and supportive legal environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about the law and eager to develop their skills and knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Respond to general inquiries through walk-ins, telephone, email or written correspondence
- Complete file and client intakes
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various topics
- Input file information into real estate and wills and estates program
- Process interim purchase files
- Assist with final Report Schedule
- Confirm appointments and meetings
- Attend client meetings
- Collaborate with lawyers, legal assistants and paralegals on case strategy and client matters
- Review and summarize legal documents
- Provide basic administrative support to staff members
What you bring:
- Good interpersonal relationship skills
- Strong administrative, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written in English)
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy office, independently and in a team environment
- Familiarity and a willingness to learn new applications
- Take initiative and exercise judgment in identifying issues needing immediate attention
Requirements:
- An LL.B or J.D degree from a Canadian law school or completed NCA certificate
- Some experience with legal management software is preferred: Teraview, Unity, PC Law, Clio etc
- Quick, willing, and adaptable learner; Embraces new challenges and opportunities, and is committed to acquiring new knowledge and skills
- High attention to detail; Keeps a keen eye for even the smallest errors and omissions that may have significant legal consequences
- Ethical Conduct; Demonstrates a strong commitment to legal ethics and professionalism

- A team player with the capacity to work independently under minimal supervision
