Hours of Work: 80 Hours Biweekly - Days - 1 Year Term
Work Location: Hybrid Work Schedule - Travel between all Northwood Campuses, main work location in the Halifax Campus.
Qualifications:
- Minimum two years of experience in geriatric nutrition preferred
- CBORD software experience or other menu management software preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition or equivalent from an accredited university
- Completion of an accredited internship program
- Licensure by the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists
- Previous experience in dysphagia management and assessment considered an asset
- Previous experience in mentoring and educating considered an asset
- Computer proficiency required including the use of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of nutrition interventions used in long term care, including: Dementia, dysphagia, diabetes, COPD and HTN, Treatments/assessments (e.g. bedside swallowing assessments and texture modification), wound care management, and enteral nutrition
- Must have regular and consistent attendance in accordance with the Northwood corporate standard.
Responsibilities (Overview):
- Implement and oversee the operation and maintenance of the dietary management software system (CBORD), ensuring that data is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory requirements at multiple sites
- Train staff on the use of the software system, troubleshoot any issues, and provide ongoing support to ensure optimal usage.
- Ensures accurate data (allergens, ingredients, etc), food production work sheets and flow of food, food service processes
- Develops, educates and implements standards of practice and processes related to CBORD software.
- Consults with leadership and departmental operations for consistent quality improvements.
- Work closely with the dietary department, providing leadership and training to dietary aides and other staff on the proper use of software tools and nutrition-related protocols implementation, evaluation and ongoing monitoring which incorporates evidence-based research.
- Collaborate with IT and management to identify system updates, enhancements, or new software implementations to improve workflow efficiency and resident care
- Mentors’ students and provides staff education.
- Performs other related duties as required
