YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. We also have 15 Health & Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario.

Position: Youth Outreach Worker YGAP
Location: Windsor Essex & Chatham Kent
Start Date: June 30, 2025
Schedule:
Compensation: $45,353 for English speaking staff or $47,353 for Bilingual (French) per annum

- Establish and maintain relationships with local school boards, community and youth service providers
- Develop and implement effective outreach strategies to engage local community and meet monthly presentation targets
- Deliver and facilitate educational workshops to youth (8 – 24 yrs.), teachers, health professionals and other agencies/organizations working with youth
- Maintain up to date knowledge regarding issues and trends related to youth gambling
- Plan, organized and implement community involvement initiative to raise awareness about youth gambling in conjunction with other community organizations
- Design and implement youth engagement activities related to youth gambling awareness
- Attend relevant educational seminars/events and present learning to the provincial team
- Develop and support local advisory committee
- Maintain accurate records and statistics related to the activities undertaken and outcomes achieved and report these regularly to the Provincial Coordinator
- Maintain ongoing communication with Lead Site

- University degree or college diploma (or equivalent) in Social Services, Education or other related field
- Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral English
- Experience in the delivery of public health, prevention and awareness initiatives
- Experience with outreach activities and strategies
- Experience in group facilitation
- Knowledge of harm reduction principles
- Experience in working with youth, sensitivity and knowledge in dealing with youth from different cultural and racial backgrounds and youth with special needs
- Ability to work in an efficient manner with a high degree of independence
- Experience working in/knowledge of the community resources in London and surrounding area would be an asset
- Knowledge of gambling issues an asset
- Knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum an asset
- Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Position Screen is required
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
