The primary responsibility of the Working Site Foreman is to oversee the daily operations on the soil recycling site, ensuring all work is done according to plan and upholding the highest standards of quality and safety. This position requires a proactive approach to managing workers, coordinating tasks, and resolving issues that may arise during operations.
Key Responsibilities
The Working Site Foreman is tasked with numerous responsibilities that are crucial for the smooth running of the soil recycling site. The core duties include:
- Managing and instructing the site workers, setting their schedules, and monitoring their performance.
- Ensuring all health and safety guidelines are followed strictly.
- Conducting regular site inspections and addressing any potential hazards immediately.
- Maintaining accurate records of employee attendance, site activities, and progress reports.
- Collaborating with management team to ensure that all activities align with the project plan.
- Ordering and managing the inventory of materials to ensure a steady supply without excessive overstock.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting any issues that may interrupt the timeline or budget of the project.
- Must be a competent heavy equipment operator (excavator, loader, skid steer, dozer)
Education and Certification Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent; however, a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in construction management, mining or a similar role, typically 3-5+ years, demonstrating a track record of managing personnel and projects successfully.
- Heavy equipment operator certificates an asset.
- Relevant certifications are an asset.
- Strong understanding of soil movement methods, materials, and regulations is essential.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills necessary for managing diverse teams and interfacing with clients and stakeholders.
Candidates for the Working Site Foreman position must also possess strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
