The Working Leader - Dispatcher position is responsible for the monitoring and coordinating of staff assignments within the Connect Care system (Epic/Grand Central), with the goal of ensuring the most efficient and appropriate use of staff to ensure timely discharges and movements of patients, equipment and supplies between service and create settings. Responsibilities include but are not limited to monitoring and coordination of cleaning and/or portering requests in the Grand Central/Epic system, answering and documenting incoming inquiries, providing front-line supervision and organization for day-to-day Environmental and/or Portering Services activities, ensuring departmental compliance with standards, creating and maintaining database, spreadsheets and all relevant reports. Interacting respectfully and professionally with all internal and external contacts, in person via other means of communication (IM's, Vocera, phone calls, et.), is essential. Optimizes job assignments for team members to ensure the most effective and efficient use of staff time and ensure to all stat/high priority tasks are being actioned first. Answers incoming calls and messages and coordinates schedule based on any operational requirements. Responsible for the coordination of day-to-day activities; establishment of daily site goals and priorities, ensuring operational deadlines are met. Ensures prompt receipt and delivery of assignments and messages. Coordinates required tasks with other units or departments as required Communicates regularly with staff, side leads and Supervisors. Communicates with site teams to coordinate Environmental Services and/or Portering tasks that facilitates the flow of patients, equipment and supplies within the site. Manages and updates database with complete and accurate information.
Description:
As a Working Leader - Service Worker, you will be responsible for providing daily leadership to Service Worker staff such as assigning and checking their work, maintaining workflow of the assigned area and providing input into staff performance appraisals. You will act as a formal resource to staff, assist with the day-to-day operational requirements for the area and assist in the orientation and training of new staff. In addition, you will direct, monitor, and ensure the coordination of a centralized system of dispatching supplies and equipment to patient care areas. Where applicable, you will also direct and monitor a centralized system for the transportation of patients (clients/residents) to and from patient care areas within a site.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Physically capable to walk and/or stand for the duration of your shift and perform repetitive physical movements. Physically capable to lift, push and pull up to 22 lbs of force. Minimum two (2) years’ experience with healthcare supplies/equipment and procedures required. Supervisor and leadership skills required. Demonstrate entry level leadership skills, dependability, the ability to work independently and cooperatively with others while effectively providing direction to staff. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, understand, follow and give written and oral instructions in English. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Must possess initiative, accuracy, flexibility/adaptability, organizational traits, be efficient, and cooperative. Must be reliable and capable of working independently. Must be able to apply logical thinking to a range of variable situations and problem solve while completing all day-to-day activities. Ability to organize workloads assessing priorities and ensure duties are completed in a timely manner. Ability to work in stressful situations, ability to maintain composure and the ability to make decisions in emergency situations are essential. Computer Literacy, particularly with Windows environment, MS Office package as well as being familiar with using Internet and ability to learn new software programs. Preferred Qualifications:
Previous dispatching, scheduling or project management. Preference will be given to applicants with Supervisory/Management Courses/Certificates or equivalent, and/or prior leadership experience. Knowledge of AHS Linen & Environmental Services policies, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures. For internal applicants up to date Required Learning Courses such as “Move Safe”, WHMIS, Code Red, etc.
