Position Summary
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Heavy Equipment Operator – Wheel Loader Operator, will be responsible for transport and hauling materials around the construction site.
This position is seasonal and is based out of our Suncor location.
Time Commitment
2 weeks on and 2 weeks off (negotiable). You may be required from time to time to work outside these hours as the need arises. Schedule may be altered at the discretion of management.
Summary of Duties (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following):
- Checks the oil and starts the machinery for warm up
- Completes a pre-trip inspection, as required by law
- Lifting 3’ x 10’ planking
- Doing some 2” and 3” pipe handling
- Ensures the safety of surrounding workers
- Organizes loads
- Haul specific loads off the lease and/or reload on other units
- Discuss operations and liaison with the rig push, engineer, and consultant
- Identify hazards
- Maintenance requirements of the unit, daily greasing, adding fluids
- Ensures the safe operation of the unit and equipment as per manufacturer’s specs
- Complies with the company policy and procedures, as well as the client’s
- Uses the guidelines and ensure visibility in all directions
- Parks the unit
- Must have rig experience in handling tubulars, matting and rig moves
- Demonstrated competency in loader operation
- Loading/Unloading trucks with rig components
- Other related duties as required
Approximate Weights of Items Moved frequently by the Wheel Loader Operator:
- Planks 50 to 100 lbs
- Tire Chains 80 to 125 lbs
- Dolly legs 40 lbs (awkward position)
- Boomers 10 lbs
- Loading Chains 20 lbs
- Loading sling 70 to 80 lbs
- Stabilizer pads 70 to 100 lbs
Working Conditions
