Job Summary:
Under moderate supervision of the Group Supervisor or Senior Chemist, performs analyses in the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing test solutions, compounds, and reagents for conducting tests and advising and coordinating test procedures.
- Determining chemical and physical properties, compositions, structures, relationships, and reactions of organic and inorganic compounds.
- Using chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry techniques.
- Performs procedures in the laboratory on various sample types and matrices using standard chemical techniques and instrumentation.
- Familiar with laboratory equipment and instrument operations.
- Able to work independently with moderate supervision.
- Capable of learning new methods and procedures quickly.
- Performs both simple and complex calculations to determine results.
- Uses computerized equipment routinely.
- Utilizes scientific methods to document analytical work.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable safety requirements.
- Processes hazardous materials as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
- Academic background in analytical chemistry and one-year laboratory experience with an emphasis on qualitative and quantitative analysis is desired.
