Position Scope
CMP (Charlottetown Metal Products) is seeking a motivated CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Waterjet Machine Operator to join our production team. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong computer skills, who enjoys a fast-paced work environment with a sense of urgency and commitment to see a project to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for complying with all safety guidelines and must have mechanical aptitude required for general upkeep and maintenance of equipment.
Previous experience will be a bonus but not as important as a strong work ethic. We will provide training to get you up to speed.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with Break Out Supervisor to meet daily production schedules.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings and cutting specifications.
- Set up and adjust CNC waterjet machines to make accurate cuts and portions.
- Prepare and load raw materials and ensure correct positioning for cutting.
- Prepare and conduct test runs to confirm programming accuracy before full production.
- Monitor machine operations and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the best results
- Inspect and measure finished products, and verify they meet requirements
- Perform daily checks and maintenance to keep machinery functioning properly
- Conduct weekly, monthly and yearly maintenance checks on equipment
- Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required by the Supervisor
- Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience operating waterjet machinery, or other automated machinery (preferably in a food processing environment)
- Experience operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) waterjet machinery, precision measurement tools and various hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and technical drawings and documentation
- Basic computer skills with understanding of programming and CAD (Computer-Aided Design)
- Mechanical aptitude and strong math skills
- Keen eye for detail and a result-driven approach
- Knowledge of food safety practices is a plus
