Scope of the Position
The Warehouse/Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing day to day operations of the Warehouse and Counter. The Warehouse/Operations Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. The Warehouse/Operations Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the daily warehousing and counter activities and he/she will be responsible for implementing efficient productivity and exceptional customer service standards. The supervisor will maintain professionalism, possess excellent communication skills and follow up diligently with the branch manager. The supervisor will be responsible for performing daily walk arounds to identify, communicate and initiate corrective actions for any safety hazards or general housekeeping as needed. The goal is to ensure that daily operations of the counter and warehouse meet and exceed company expectations.
Major Responsibilities
- Oversee day to day operations of Warehouse and Counter Associates
- Maintain facility, equipment, inventory, support equipment and tooling in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all warehouse equipment to ensure compliance with Federal & Provincial Legislation.
- Encourage a harmonious relationship between those employees supervised by the Operations Supervisor and other branch staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of company records.
- Measure and provide feedback on the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employees performance.
- Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring accuracy of shipments, receiving, customer service and inventory transactions
- Assign workload & communicate job expectations while coaching employees as required.
- Provide assistance as needed to branch staff to answer questions or solve problems
- Ensure new and current employees are trained properly on all equipment.
- Maintain all records for the warehouse including: training, maintenance, pre-starts etc. and ensure all equipment is in good working order, locking/tagging out when needed, calling for service etc.
- Perform daily meetings to discuss priorities, safety (hazard) issues and encourage staff feedback
- Identify areas of improvement and establish innovate or adjust existing work procedures and practices
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse and assists in maintaining the security and safety of the warehouse
- Ensure warehouse is set up in an efficient manner to ensure optimal workflow and maintain inventory locations, bins and labels
- Reports incidents and health and safety issue in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working in the electrical industry
- 2-5 years’ experience working in a warehouse
- 1 year of Wire & Cable Product knowledge is required
- Strong knowledge of branch operations
- Excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to operate under time pressure, co-ordinate staff and organize work schedules
- A high level of motivation, self-management, and effective interpersonal skills
- Intermediate computer skills and knowledge: Familiar with Microsoft office and inventory systems.
