Location: Must be based in Metro Vancouver, BC. Hybrid role, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
Travel Requirement: ~25% travel

Spare’s next VP/Director of Marketing will elevate the function to a core revenue-driving strategic lever in the organization. They will bring deep ownership, creative horsepower, and commercial instinct to how Spare goes to market. This role is not about caretaking a function — it’s about transforming it into one of the highest-performing growth engines at Spare.
This leader will build trust with Sales, Product, and the broader team. They will become a key voice in Spare’s strategic direction — not just someone who executes campaigns, but someone who helps shape the story we tell, the market we pursue, and how we win.
Top Objectives
1. Build Trust in Marketing Across the Business- Build credibility and alignment with Sales, Product, and the Executive team.
- Take ownership for marketing impact end-to-end: content, campaigns, enablement, customer stories, events, product launches, and more.
- Empower an ongoing culture of high performance and measurable results in the marketing team.
- Establish clear role expectations, career paths, and accountability across all marketing sub-functions, and coach high potential team members to encourage career development.
- Own the GTM mission as a senior leader and member of the SLT team, including pipeline design, growth strategy, and executive planning.
- Bring forward market insights and strategy ideas proactively — not reactively.
- Drive bold, differentiated storytelling and brand positioning that earns trust in government markets.
- Embed yourself with Sales. Understand deals, objections, and whitespace opportunities firsthand.
- Create marketing initiatives that Sales trusts, uses, and relies on — not just polished decks or blog posts.
- Set and hit clear targets: MQEs, RFPs influenced, event ROI, campaign-sourced revenue.
- At Spare we don’t end with “good enough” in marketing. Case studies, slide decks, vague enablement content, and more need to have a high bar in quality.
- Build marketing systems and documentation that scale and drive internal trust.
- Be a builder and editor — not just a delegator.
Candidate Must-Haves
- Located in Metro Vancouver (or willing to move to Metro Vancouver), willing to be in-office regularly (hybrid role minimum 3 days a week in office) and collaborate deeply with Sales and Exec team.
- Proven success as the executive owner of full-stack marketing in a client or customer-driven organization, and proven ability to drive exponential revenue growth.
- Has directly led both product marketing and demand gen teams.
- Commercially minded and highly creative — can own both brand and pipeline.
- Strong people manager with a track record of building high-performance teams.
- Willing to be accountable for marketing’s impact on revenue and strategic outcomes.
