The VP Funding is a member of the Senior Canadian Dealer Services Leadership Team who manages and develops the funding function assisting and supporting Canada's day-to-day operations. This team member is responsible for the proper execution of all internal processes, policies and systems within his/her area of responsibility ensuring that all company policies are met for the Canadian business region. This team member works extensively with other Company departments, as well as automobile dealers and other finance and credit sources. This team member will be open to supporting additional functions that may lead to a transition in areas of responsibility within the Canadian Operations framework, presenting opportunities for growth and alignment with the organization’s evolving business needs. This team member will exemplify GM Financials' core values both internally and externally.
Lead Funding for Canadian originations (50%)
Manage and review funding data ensuring lease and retail contracts are funded within corporate documentation standards
Manage, administer, measure, monitor and ensure adequate control over funding
Identify, develop and assist with the preparation and maintenance of written operating procedures for areas of responsibility
Manage key initiatives where applicable, including the analysis of key business performance and risk indicators, delivery issues, staff performance standards and dealer escalation issues within the Canadian business unit
Assist in the development and implementation of approved credit programs; ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures
Participate in shaping, supporting and effectively executing origination strategies and changes as needed
Provide an environment that encourages evolution of processes to enable efficiencies to be realized; encourage participation in the redesign as opportunities present themselves
Collaborate with the Project and Support analysts to ensure any enhancement or maintenance efforts are appropriately tracked and tested
Assist leadership with the development of broad-based dealer relationships ensuring volume objectives are achieved within established guidelines
Hire, train and develop a best-in-class staff (20%)
Prepare logical staffing models based on volume forecasts, trend analysis and training timelines to ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times
Provide the internal staff with specific direction through motivation and team building, assisting in achieving monthly volume objectives according to corporate origination strategies
Analyze and oversee workload assignments to ensure processing requirements are met, ensuring maximum productivity while maintaining quality service standards
Manage, train, coach and evaluate subordinate team members regarding assigned responsibilities
Provide ongoing training to staff to increase productivity and efficiencies
Support career growth opportunities for team members and identify/support potential candidates for internal job rotation assignments
Forecast staffing requirements to meet business needs based on marketing initiatives and operational changes
Develop and maintain accurate and detailed reports, both recurring and ad-hoc, regarding departmental performance, and provide such reporting to management as requested (15%)
Identify, develop and assist with the preparation and maintenance of written operating procedures for areas of responsibility
Ensure satisfactory audit results at the company, provincial, and federal levels
Other assigned duties (15%)
Maintain budget and expense control for the operational area
Remain informed of industry related trends and communicate this information to staff on a regular basis
Provide guidance and support to IT projects relative to the Canadian business
Advanced working knowledge of provincial and federal regulatory compliance, and various direct and indirect lending laws
Working knowledge of project management to implement processes and procedures to ensure operational effectiveness
Ability to diagnose and solve key business issues drawing upon functional expertise and clear understanding of changing market conditions, prevailing industry practices, and dealer/customer service and loyalty
Sound knowledge of credit underwriting in the automobile finance industry and of GM Financials business segments for effective application of operational strategies
Thorough understanding of GM Financial policies and procedures pertaining to the investigation of contract packages and subsequent disbursement of funds

Work Experience
7-10 years of related work experience – required

Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
