Vice Principal/Learner Support – Dease Lake School
School District 87, Stikine, serves students and families on the unceded traditional territories of the Tahltan, Kaska and Tlingit First Nations and we honour these relationships. We respect and value the relationships with all other First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples who reside in these territories. We are seeking a school administrator who takes a student-centered approach to leadership; has strong communication and liaison skills; and who is committed to excellence in education to support school and student growth. We welcome educators who have:
- Demonstrated understanding and respect for Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being and Doing;
- Successful experience with the integration of Indigenous Language and Culture;
- Commitment to and progress toward Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action related to education;
- Demonstrated understanding and respect for Indigenous learning and learners as well as knowledge of the Tahltan Nation (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to establish respectful relationships with learners, parents, staff, community and Indigenous Peoples;
- The ability to connect with students in trusting and supportive ways and restore harmony and respect.
- Previous administrative experience is desirable;
- Experience and knowledge of the B.C. K to 12 curriculum;
- Thorough understanding of effective assessment and evaluation practices;
- Knowledge and experience in Learner Support Services;
- A fundamental belief that all learners can achieve at a high level;
- Demonstrated effective leadership during critical incidents and other stressful conditions;
- Have knowledge of and experience with training, delivery and leading initiatives pertaining to Trauma Informed Practice in support of students;
- The knowledge and ability to guide staff and students with differentiated learning strategies;
- Knowledge and experience as a support teacher working with diverse needs and/or Inclusive Education Qualifications would be an asset.
- Conducted a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, administration and interpretation of norm- referenced assessment instruments, curriculum-based assessments, and diagnostic teaching methods.
- Level B Assessment qualifications (preferred)
- Facilitating school team-based meetings to support the goals of IEP's through a consultative model ensuring that assessment referrals are complete and accurate.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth.
- It is desired that the candidate possess a graduate degree in Education, with a focus on educational leadership; curriculum and instruction; or other relevant area;
- A BC Teaching Certificate or be eligible to acquire certification as determined by the BC Ministry of Education's Teacher Regulation Branch.
- Competitive Salary ($120,124-$132,005)
- Moving Relocation Allowance: TBD
- Travel Allowance: $2274.00 (plus dependents)
