Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced VEX Robotics Coach to mentor and guide students in designing, building, and programming VEX robots for competitions and STEM learning. The ideal candidate has a strong background in robotics, engineering, or coding, along with hands-on experience coaching VEX teams. They should be passionate about inspiring students, fostering problem-solving skills, and promoting teamwork.
Please note: This is not a summer-only role. We are looking for someone interested in a long-term position.
Responsibilities
- Coach and mentor students in VEX Robotics, covering design, building, programming, and competition strategies.
- Plan and lead structured robotics sessions that align with VEX Robotics curriculum and competition guidelines.
- Guide students through the engineering design process, troubleshooting, and iterative improvements.
- Teach programming concepts using VEXcode, RobotC, or Python, depending on the platform.
- Prepare teams for local, national, and international VEX competitions by simulating match scenarios and refining robot performance.
- Foster teamwork, critical thinking, and leadership skills among students.
- Stay updated on VEX Robotics competition rules, updates, and emerging technologies.
- Manage robot materials, equipment, and workspace organization.
- Support students in documenting their design process for engineering notebooks and presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in STEM-related fields (Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related) preferred.
- Previous experience coaching or mentoring VEX Robotics teams.
- Strong understanding of robotics concepts, mechanical design, and programming.
- Proficiency in Solidworks or equivalent, VEXcode, RobotC, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Knowledge of sensors, motors, and control systems used in VEX Robotics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Passion for STEM education and student development.
- Experience with project-based learning and competition preparation.
Timings:
Saturday 10 am to 2 pm
Tuesday or Wednesday or Friday between 5 pm t 8 pm
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6 – 8 per week
