We are looking for a friendly, positive, and experienced Veterinary Receptionist to join our team here at Dixie Animal Hospital in Mississauga. Excellent customer service with proficient written and verbal communication skills is a must.
This is a part-time position, 20-30 hours per week. Clinic hours are 8am-midnight 7 days per week. Both morning and evening shifts required - must be available until midnight. Must also be available on weekends weekends (alternating with other staff, 2-3 weekends per month).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Client Interaction: Greet clients warmly and provide compassionate support during stressful situations.
- Appointment Management: Schedule, confirm, and manage urgent care appointments efficiently.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between clients and the veterinary team, ensuring clear and accurate information flow.
- Check-In and Check-Out: Handle patient admissions and discharges, including collecting and verifying patient information, payment processing, and reviewing aftercare instructions.
- Telephone Triage: Answer incoming calls promptly, prioritize emergency inquiries, and provide guidance on next steps.
- Record Keeping: Update and maintain client and patient records in the practice management system accurately.
- Billing and Payments: Process invoices, handle financial transactions, and explain costs to clients.
- Hospital Support: Assist with administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and inventory checks for office supplies.
- Cleanliness & Organization: Ensure the front desk and waiting areas are clean, welcoming, and organized.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Prior experience as a receptionist in a veterinary or medical setting (required).
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment with professionalism and efficiency.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Compassion and understanding toward clients and patients during emergencies.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
