Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. You will assist in various tasks, ensuring the well-being of our patients while maintaining a clean and organized environment.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by holding animals and providing necessary tools.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including administering medications and monitoring vital signs.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams.
- Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information as needed.
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment to ensure a safe environment.
- Provide care for hospitalized animals, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring their condition.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing inventory.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in veterinary technology is a plus.
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a related field preferred but not required.
- Strong interest in animal care and welfare.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with both team members and pet owners.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift and handle animals of various sizes safely.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed.
