The Unit Clerk performs a variety of duties in support of the health care team including processing physician orders and liaising with other departments. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

Must have a Certificate from a recognized training program which includes a practicum component. A course in Medical Terminology is required. Must have at least two to three years directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:One year related experience in a hospital environment required. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office. Minimum 35 WPM typing ability. Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, thrive in a fast paced, noisy and demanding environment. Proven understanding of medical tests including diagnostic imagining, medical procedures and surgical operations. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, occasionally walk short distances, lift up to 5kg. Ability to spend majority of time in front of computer. Working knowledge of eFacilities, supply procurement, ePeople, Kronos, Netcare, Connect Care.
Preferred Qualifications:One to two years directly related Surgical experience is preferred.
