ROLE
CUC is currently seeking an Underground Civil Foreman to lead our underground civil crew. This role will be based out of Surrey British Columbia, with travel required across the province. This hands-on leadership role involves supervising and working alongside a team responsible for the installation of underground electrical infrastructure, including duct banks, manholes, and conduit systems, as well as sidewalk and curb construction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, proven leadership experience, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency on-site.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the underground civil crew.
- Interpret construction drawings and ensure work is completed to spec and code (including BC Hydro and CEA standards).
- Oversee trenching, conduit installation, concrete encasement, backfilling, and restoration.
- Manage the installation and finishing of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters in accordance with municipal standards.
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company safety policies.
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and inspectors.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and crew hours.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Travel to project sites across BC as required (including remote locations).
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of experience in underground civil construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience with sidewalk and curb installation, including forming, pouring, and finishing concrete.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License (Class 3 or higher preferred).
- Ground Disturbance Level II certification (or willingness to obtain).
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., mini excavators, skid steers).
- Basic/ Intermediate First Aid certification.
- Strong knowledge of underground electrical infrastructure and BC Hydro/CEA standards.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and utility locates.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and travel as needed.
