- Responsible for transporting clients to and from appointments
- Maintain the vehicle and buildings in good working order
- The transportation program, provides transportation services to clients of BISN ( The Hug), to attend medical appointments, court, CSSD appointments , legal meetings, rehab centers etc.
- The employee will work closely with the Peer Support Coordinator to provide the best quality of care to persons living with an addiction or recovery.
- Provide support for the Peer Support program as needed.
- Demonstrate the highest level of customer service when interacting with passengers, being respectful of their needs, listening for requests related to future rides, and communicating those to Project Manager.-Inspect the vehicle daily to ensure it is in optimal condition while reporting any damage or maintenance required in a timely manner.
- Operate BISN’s vehicle in a safe manner at all times obeying all traffic regulations including cell phone use when using the vehicle.-Operate BISN’s vehicle in a cost effective manner, including choosing the route that is most efficient when transporting passengers.
- Ensure passenger safety when entering and exiting the van, including assisting passengers with loading and unloading luggage, wheelchairs, etc.-Communicate effectively with passengers, providing information on routes, schedules, and stops
- .Report delays, mechanical problems, and accidents to the Project Manager.
- Ensure the van interior and exterior is kept in a clean manner.
- Janitorial work at The Hug: cleaning washrooms, sweeping floors, reloading empty dispensers, rearranging furniture, snow shoveling, etc.
- Minor maintenance: replacing light bulbs, replacing plumbing gaskets, fixing door locks, reporting leaks, etc.-Helping to oversee major renovations.
Approval
- Responsibilities Ride requests that are outside of the ordinary scope of the transportation program must be approved by the Project Manager.
Requirements
- Class 5 drivers licence Class
- 4 Drivers license will be required (can be completed during orientation)
- Clear driver’s abstract
- Criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with minor building maintenance
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg and to undertake reasonable physical work (e.g. shoveling)
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as required.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.

- Experience working in an organization with similar goals and objectives
- Prior experience in the transportation field
