TRANSITIONAL SUPPORT WORKER for Bridges 1

About the position:
McMan’s Supported Independent Living Program is looking for an experienced Transitional Support Worker for our Bridges 1 building. This position involves supporting youth between the ages of 16 and 22 in the community. The program serves a variety of youth. Some youth have complex issues and are considered high risk. Their issues may be related to addictions, mental health, homelessness, and developmental challenges. Comfortability with supporting youth with these issues and being able to connect with and develop relationships with youth is essential to this position.
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with two evenings per week; flexibility is required to meet the needs of the youth with occasional weekend hours. An on-call rotation every 7-9 weeks for one week, 24 hours per day.
Location: Edmonton, Alberta and Surrounding areas
What you’ll do:
- Meet with youth in the community or in their homes
- Promote community inclusion by engaging in a variety of community activities with the youth and connecting them to resources
- Be responsible for case planning, management and documentation
- Assisting youth in developing a variety of life skills
- Work from a trauma informed lens
- Participate in on-going program development
What you bring:
- Completed Degree/Diploma in Human Services
- Six (6) months’ experience directly working with youth
- Equivalencies may be considered
- Police Information Check; including Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months)
- Children Services Intervention Record Check (from within the last 6 months)
- Emergency First Aid - Level C CPR + AED
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license, current drivers abstract, reliable vehicle and 2 million dollars third party liability auto insurance are required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build relationships with youth and manage crisis; desire to see youth succeed
- Ability to assist individuals with complex behaviors and developmental disabilities
- CARE (Children and Residential Experiences) training is an asset
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; able to work independently
