Tower Operator, Southside Dodge

Summary

The Tower Operator is responsible for coordinating and dispatching work within the service department to ensure productivity, efficiency and customer satisfaction. This role acts as the liaison between the technicians and advisors.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Scheduling: Review and confirm customer appointments for shop capacity, customer needs and technician availability.
• Workflow Management: Monitor and control the repair orders and the flow of vehicles through the shop to ensure productivity, efficiency and commitment.
• Technician Workload: Monitor the technicians’ workload to ensure they have access to the resources they require and time to complete the job while limiting downtime.
• Communication: Provide updates to service and parts advisors on job status to prevent delays.
• Documentation: Ensure repair orders are accurate and complete with proper authorization.

• Safety Protocols: Ensure that all safety regulations are followed, particularly in high-traffic areas.
• Compliance: Be familiar and compliant with regulations, policies and quality control standards.
  

• Problem Solving: Resolve any scheduling conflicts while prioritizing emergency repairs and customer satisfaction.
• Culture: Support a positive and productive work environment.

Qualifications

• Automotive mechanical knowledge and a strong understanding of technician capabilities.
  
• Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.

• Problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Capable of working independently and within a team.
• Adaptable to a fast-paced environment and multi-tasking when required.

Education & Experience

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in a dealership or service department.
• Basic computer knowledge with a preference for experience in dealership software.
• Stay up to date on dealership training requirements.
