Tire Technician / Service Truck (MT-74203ST) Job Description
Tire Technicians, working in a fun, relaxed automotive shop environment, will provide high-quality customer service by performing wheel and tire-related work offered by Market Tire (1976) Ltd.
Tire Technician Position by Areas of Responsibility
Tire Service (passenger & light truck)
Duties Include:
- Driving customer vehicles in and out of shop
- Check air on all vehicles in shop regardless of service provided
- Repairing flat tires
- Dismounting & mounting tires
- Balancing tires
- Installing tires
- Rotating tires
- Studding tires
- Retorqueing customers’ wheels
Service Truck
Duties Include:
- Driving to and from off-site locations
- Changing over, balancing and repairing tires at off-site locations
Auto Service
Duties Include:
- Performing oil changes and associated inspection
- Assisting mechanic
Ongoing Activities
Duties Include:
- Greet and assist customers when customers enter or approach shop
- Maintaining cleanliness of shop, warehouse, staffroom, washrooms and yard
- Shoveling snow and de-icing walkways and entrances to store
- Picking up products from suppliers
- Maintaining and counting inventory
Working Conditions
- Full-time position of 40 hours per week
- Regular business hours (Monday to Friday) and half-days on Saturdays
- Open shop workspace closed to the public
- Noisy work environment (e.g., pneumatic tools, power washers etc.)
- Standing, walking, kneeling on concrete, asphalt and gravel
- Driving to and from service calls
- Professional and fun work environment dedicated to health & safety
- Full access to employer provided PPE (mandatory and must be worn in shop)
Skills Development
Opportunity to develop mechanical / technical skills through:
- One-on-one in-shop training
- Online training (Goodyear Training Centre, Bistrainer & Motor Safety Association)
Job Specification
- Working knowledge of the tire / automotive industry
- Open friendly disposition with a demonstrated ability to work well and collaborate with others
- English proficiency (minimum of CLB 4) in reading, writing, listening & speaking
- Ability to follow and complete detailed repair orders
- Strong commitment to health & safety
- Ability to lift, push / pull, roll 50lb items
- Required CSA approved M-Rated safety footwear
- Valid driver’s license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.80-$24.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
