The Veterinary Technology and Veterinary Medical Assistant programs offer a challenging career for those individuals interested in being a part of the animal studies team. The program is designed to provide students with clinical skills used in both small and large animal practices, in areas such as medical records, diagnostic lab, patient care and clinical communication.
We are looking to fill the temporary part-time position for the Instructor with an RVT designation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, lab and/or clinical setting
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Assess the learning process and respond to student issues
- Provide early and ongoing coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and clinical communication skills with a strong focus on continuous improvement to align with industry success, student success and institutional success.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office suite, Avimark and Cornerstone
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated professionalism
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in an agile environment providing educational and animal care simultaneously
Qualifications:
- Diploma is Animal Health or Veterinary Technology
- 5 years of clinical experience that may include companion or mixed animal practice
- Registered Veterinary Technologist with the ABVMA
- Experience in mixed animal practice is an asset
- Experience in delivery of adult education is desirable
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Instructor salary grid $39,130.80 - $67,838.32 annually (based on 21.75 hours per week). However, starting salary for new hires averages between $47,237.11 - $51,357.23 annually (based on 21.75 hours per week) based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
