Position: Temporary Full-time Indigenous Graduation Coach, 35 hours per week
Dates: Commencing August 25, 2025, and ending June 26, 2026, with potential contract renewal based on funding availability and mutual agreement
Location: Saugeen District Senior School
Rate: $35.39 - $36.80 per hour + 4% vacation pay (Sept.1/24 rate)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the student success of Indigenous students from Saugeen First Nations attending Saugeen District Senior School;
- Work in partnership with Bluewater District School Board's Indigenous Advisor, central staff, administrators, and staff at Saugeen District Senior School to establish timely interventions to remove barriers to ensure the well-being, engagement, and learning of Indigenous students;
- Use existing school structures to advocate for the needs of each learner;
- Engage with parents, guardians, families, and community stakeholders to build trust, relationships, and facilitate communication and dialogue;
- Develop collective knowledge of educators, provide cultural competency supports as needed, and advocate leveraging Indigenous cultural knowledge to help transform school culture;
- Act as an advocate and a role model for students in pathways planning related to graduation and post-secondary destinations;
- Connect students with their cultural identity and organize and facilitate student leadership development;
- Facilitate student engagement in order to create trusting relationships between Indigenous students and their secondary or elementary school community; and,
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent;
- Indigenous Education, counselling training program diploma, or Diploma in Native Education Indigenous Studies; and
- Experience working with Indigenous students in a counselling or support role.

- The ability and willingness to provide recommendations in a timely manner, demonstrating good judgement, respect for organizational policies and procedures in addition to Saugeen First Nation values and inherent rights;
- Genuine knowledge and understanding of the Seven Grandfather Teachings and the willingness to learn;
- Familiarity with Saugeen First Nation history;
- Excellent written and oral communication;
- Organized and able to manage competing demands; and,
- Experience mentoring or coaching students.
Job Requirements:
- Clean vulnerable sector police check
- Valid driver's license
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Eligible to work in Canada
