Join our Úxwumixw (community) in fostering wellness and connection through recreation! This role uplifts Squamish Nation youth by blending cultural teachings (snew̓íyelh) with dynamic programming, ensuring a safe space for growth, skill-building, and fun.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and supervise teen/youth programs, including sports clinics, life skills workshops, and cultural activities.
- Plan and chaperone day, evening, and weekend events—from local field trips to multi-day excursions.
- Teach essential skills (cooking, homework support, hygiene) with wenáxws (respect) and creativity.
- Coordinate logistics (consent forms, supplies, transportation) and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain equipment inventories, complete activity reports, and collaborate with the recreation team.
- Promote programs through flyers and community outreach, engaging Squamish Valley members.
- Uphold workplace safety and contribute to team goals with a cooperative spirit.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience instructing youth programs or coordinating recreational activities.
- Strong organizational skills for planning events, managing supplies, and completing documentation.
- Ability to work flexible hours (evenings/weekends) and build rapport with youth.
- Knowledge of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh culture or willingness to learn and integrate snew̓íyelh (teachings).
- Cultural humility and respect for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh values, sovereignty, and self-determination.

Salary: $47,000 - $66,00
Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. We are committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
