Home Base Yellowknife is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic Facilitator to support and engage youth (ages 12–24) and individuals with disabilities through inclusive, recreation-based and supportive programming. This unique position combines elements of recreation, caregiving, and community involvement to create meaningful experiences that improve the quality of life for participants.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate engaging, inclusive activities and programs tailored to youth and individuals with disabilities.
- Provide individualized support to help participants overcome barriers, build confidence, develop life skills, and foster independence.
- Create and maintain strong community partnerships to enhance access to programs in areas like STEAM, sports, music, arts, and cultural/land-based activities.
- Collaborate closely with Navigators, Support Workers, and care teams to ensure holistic, person-centered support.
- Monitor participant engagement and progress, adapting programming to meet evolving needs.
- Foster a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment grounded in core values of fun, teamwork, honesty, and integrity.
- Communicate effectively with youth, residents, families, and team members to maintain transparency and trust.
- Respond confidently to crisis or emergency situations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 19 years of age.
- Diploma/Degree in Recreation, Education, Social Work, Human Services, PhysEd, or related fields (or equivalent life/work experience).
- Minimum one year of relevant experience working with youth and/or individuals experiencing trauma, mental health challenges, addictions, or disabilities.
- Strong understanding of caregiving practices, particularly for individuals in assisted living or with dementia care needs.
- Class 5 driver’s license with at least 1 year of northern driving experience and a clear Driver’s Abstract.
- Clear Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector screening).
- Clear Child Protection Record Check.
Key Competencies:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (fluency in English).
- High emotional intelligence, patience, and adaptability.
- Experience using Google Suite and enhanced computer literacy.
- Punctual, reliable, organized, and able to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Creative, energetic, and enthusiastic about program development.
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends as needed.
