Company Overview
Fibertel Communications, a leader in providing low-voltage building solutions including structured cabling, security, audiovisual, and mass notification systems, is seeking a skilled Technology Project Manager. This position specializes in managing the technology components within multi-scope projects, which involve various low-voltage solutions such as security, access control, video surveillance, PA Paging, nurse call, audiovisual systems, wireless technology, door lock technology, and smart building technologies. While Fibertel’s subject matter experts handle the ITS, copper, and fiber portions of these projects, the Technology Project Manager will focus on ensuring successful integration and delivery of the technology systems within the broader multi-scope project.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the technology portion of multi-scope projects, including the integration of security technologies, access control, video surveillance, PA Paging, nurse call, audiovisual systems, wireless technology, door lock technology, and smart building systems.
- Coordinate closely with Fibertel’s subject matter experts who are responsible for managing the ITS, copper, and fiber infrastructure aspects of the projects.
- Ensure seamless integration between the technology components and other project scopes to meet client requirements and project specifications.
- Manage the construction budget related to technology components, handling all project-related invoicing, costs, and change orders.
- Oversee and ensure that all scopes of work are adhered to, tracking and managing any changes.
Smart Building Technology
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to integrate smart building solutions that provide seamless interaction between security, cctv, thermostats, wireless locks, water detection systems and building monitoring.
- Drive innovation in implementing wireless technologies and smart locks that enhance building security and improve operational efficiency, such as remote access control, energy-saving systems, and centralized monitoring solutions.
Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) for ITS, copper, and fiber to align technology goals with the broader project scope.
- Lead the technology-related aspects of the project, working closely with other project managers and inter-disciplinary teams to ensure alignment on project deliverables.
- Build and maintain strong, direct relationships with customers, ensuring all client needs are met in a professional and timely manner.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills, ensuring the successful execution of the technology systems while meeting project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for all technology-related components of the project, ensuring that client needs are fully understood and met.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders, both internal and external, on the progress of technology installations, troubleshooting, and milestones.
Network & Technology Expertise
- Demonstrate a proven understanding of networks and low-voltage technologies, with a preference for knowledge in security technologies, wireless technology, smart building systems, and door lock technology.
- Utilize your expertise to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure systems are deployed according to best practices and industry standards.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in low-voltage technologies, particularly in security and smart building systems, to bring innovation and efficiency to project management.
- Maintain a passion for expanding technical knowledge and continuously evaluate new technologies and opportunities related to low-voltage systems and security solutions.
Project Planning & Execution
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets for the technology components, ensuring these aspects of the project are delivered on time and within budget.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement contingency plans to mitigate risks related to technology installations and integration.
Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure all project-related documentation for the technology components is maintained, including technical specifications, installation plans, and as-built documentation.
- Provide reports to senior management, outlining project status, budget adherence, and any challenges or risks associated with the technology components of the project.
Skills and Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience as a Project Manager, preferably within low-voltage building solutions or related industries.
- Construction Experience: Experience in commercial construction or working within the construction industry, particularly in the bid specification area.
- Construction Chain Navigation: Proven ability to work under General Contractors, direct to customers, or alongside other trades such as electricians, effectively navigating the construction process with these partners.
- Demonstrated knowledge of networks, low-voltage systems, and an affinity for security technologies, wireless technologies, smart building systems, and door lock technologies.
- Proven leadership ability, with experience leading technology projects in multi-scope environments.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, with a strong preference for working alongside other Project Managers and inter-disciplinary teams.
- Client Management: Ability to manage direct customer relationships within the construction chain and ensure client expectations are met in a professional manner.
- Continuous Learning: A passion for expanding technical knowledge and staying informed about new technologies and opportunities in low-voltage and smart building systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical information to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Proficiency in using project management software to plan, execute, and track progress on multiple projects.
