Job Summary
The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for driving technical solution sales, leading the pre-sales engineering interface, and managing customer engagements from initial consultation through project closure. This role combines deep technical expertise with sales acumen to generate opportunities, convert leads, and deliver value-driven solutions to commercial and industrial clients. Compensation is commission-based, with a minimum wage guarantee . Commission rates start from 6% of completed sales volume, offering strong earning potential for high performers
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Responsibilities·
Lead the technical sales process, from qualifying leads to delivering tailored proposals and technical presentations.
Oversee the creation of customer-specific proposals, including system sizing, SLDs, and performance projections.
Work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Product teams to align solutions with customer needs and technical feasibility.
Develop and implement sales strategies to expand TROES’ presence in target markets (e.g., C&I, microgrids, utilities).
2. Communication & Collaboration·
Serve as the technical point of contact during the sales cycle, providing expert guidance and solution validation.
Collaborate with Marketing to create sales collateral, case studies, and product presentations.
Participate in conferences, webinars, and customer visits to represent TROES’ technical capabilities.
Maintain strong relationships with prospects, partners, and stakeholders throughout the buying journey.
3. Process & Documentation·
Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, proposals, and client communications in CRM tools.
Develop templates and standard documentation for consistent and professional proposal delivery.
Provide input into pricing strategy and commercial models based on project scope and technical requirements.
Track performance metrics and generate reports on sales funnel, conversion rates, and pipeline status.
4. Technical / Specialized Tasks
Use tools such as AutoCAD, HOMER, Helioscope, or equivalent for system modeling and layout support.
Analyze client load profiles, interconnection data, and site conditions to assess project feasibility.
Stay current with trends in energy storage technologies, regulatory shifts, and utility requirements.
Support project handover to the execution team and stay engaged during early implementation to ensure alignment.

Qualifications
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related technical field (MBA is an asset).
Professional engineering designation (P.Eng.) or PMP certification is a plus.
Experience
Minimum 6+ years in technical sales, business development, or solution engineering.
Proven track record in energy storage, renewables, or power systems sales.
Experience managing or mentoring a technical sales team.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of battery energy storage systems, electrical design, and renewable energy integration.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with clients, engineers, and decision-makers.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), and proposal development tools.
Ability to translate complex technical requirements into customer-friendly value propositions.
Strategic thinker with strong leadership and project management abilities.
Working Conditions
Standard business hours, Monday to Friday.
Hybrid work model with regular in-office collaboration required.
Occasional travel for client meetings, site assessments, conferences, and industry events.
May include extended hours to meet proposal deadlines or support international clients.
Compensation
Base Guarantee (Draw Against Commission): The Employee will be guaranteed at least the Ontario minimum wage for all hours worked, treated as a draw against commissions earned.
Commission Rate: Starting at 6% for sales volume.
Commission Entitlement: Commissions are earned only when TROES receives payment from the client for a project milestone.
Payment Timing: Commissions are calculated and paid on a monthly or quarterly basis, following client payment.
Cancelled or Unpaid Sales: Commissions are payable only on amounts received by TROES. If a project is cancelled after partial payment, commission is paid on amounts received to date. No commission applies to unpaid or refunded amounts.
Statutory Entitlements: Vacation pay, public holiday pay, and all other ESA entitlements apply and will be calculated on total wages (including commissions).
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: From $17.60 per hour
