We are currently seeking an individual who enjoys innovative automated machinery and has the ability to document product information for Machine manuals and SR&ED claims.
This role offers a combination of office work and being on the shop floor to develop a comprehensive understanding of major projects. The successful candidate will work with a team of designers, programmers, engineers and tradespeople to document daily tasks and write project reports.
Role Overview:
This role involves coordinating and compiling SR&ED reports, maintaining and organizing technical documentation, and developing clear, accurate machine manuals and technical guides for mechanical systems and components.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, excellent writing and communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical information into accessible documentation.
Prior experience in a technical administrative or engineering support role is preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write and edit machine manuals, and installation guides for custom-built machines and automation systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and developers to gather technical details and translate them into accurate, user-friendly documentation
- Prepare and organize technical narratives and supporting documentation for SR&ED claims
- Ensure documentation meets quality, compliance, and regulatory standards
- Work closely with project teams to stay current on R&D activities and product development
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and documentation tools
- Interest in engineering systems, drawings, schematics, and CAD files
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Post secondary education in, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Technical Writing, or a related field.
Education
- Completion of College
- Technical Writing Certificate or equivalent experience
- Mechanical / Electrical Engineering knowledge or degree
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of technical communication techniques and standards
- Attention to detail with proficiency in proofreading, editing, writing, and graphics creation
- Excellent English, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with personnel at all levels of the organization locally and remotely.
- Self-starter who is motivated and takes initiative
- Ability to quickly learn how to use and maintain products with a passion for technology
- Strong time management and prioritization skills with experience in meeting tight deadlines and adapting to changing priorities
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel.
