As a technical Project Advisor at Rheinmetall Canada, your main challenge will be to manage the generation of technical documents, ensuring the completeness and compliance of the solution. Your responsibilities will include the execution strategy, schedule, and commercial considerations to meet the expectations of military vehicle programs.
Here are your main responsibilities:
- Support the project manager in coordinating activities, evaluating the costs of projects and activities.
- Manage the vehicles and sub-systems technical requirements and ensure that suppliers comply with technical and interface specifications required by our clients.
- Participate in discussions and periodic review meetings with customers, partners and key suppliers and follow up on technical matters.
- In collaboration with various partners, review customer requirements and define the technical solutions to propose, including comparative analyses (make or buy), data, parts, equipment, etc.
- Coordinate the various development steps required to obtain a compliant solution, on time for bid submissions or trials.
- Manage the technical risks and their mitigation plans.
- Coordinate the activities of a team in a matrix organisation during the execution of the projects or the development of products.
- In collaboration with the procurement team, coordinate the suppliers for sub-systems and provide necessary technical details.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
The skills we are looking for:
- Have a minimum of 5 years as a project specialist or systems specialist in the field of military vehicles (or a related field).
- Have a solid experience in managing relationships with customers and subcontractors.
- Possess a good knowledge regarding project management tools and have experience in estimating project costs.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and to navigate military technical manuals.
- Be able and available to travel domestically and international.
- Be fluent in French and in English (written and spoken).
- Must be able to acquire up to a NATO secret level security clearance.
Assets that would give you a better chance:
- Have an engineering degree or technician certification in an applicable field, e.g. a provincial or reputable national or international professional Certification or Licensing as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Service Technician.
- Have experience in vehicles maintenance.
- Have an excellent knowledge of the various types of military vehicles.
- Possess good knowledge of the principles of maintenance planning and spare parts management in a military environment, e.g. experience working as a life cycle maintenance manager (LCMM) or technical authority (TA) within the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) preferably on army equipment.
- Knowledge of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) that meet S1000D or another equivalent standard.
- Have a good knowledge of configuration management standards.
- Have business acumen and good negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of German language.
- Most of Rheinmetall Canada's customers and partners are from outside Quebec, as is its subsidiary Rheinmetall Provectus, which is based in Ontario.
