Restwell Sleep Products has been in business for over 35 years. We are a well-established, privately owned manufacturer and distributor of mattresses, foundations, and other sleep-related products. As one of the largest privately owned mattress manufacturers in Western Canada, we produce the Spring Air, Novo Sleep, and Pure Energy brands. Our products are supplied to many independently owned retail bedding and furniture stores, hotels, and some national chains throughout the region.
JOB SUMMARY
The Supply Chain & Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials for Restwell. They ensure that the right materials are available in the necessary departments, meet quality standards, are competitively priced, and are delivered on time. Reporting to a member of our Executive Leadership Team, the role includes building relationships with suppliers, managing a materials plan based on sales forecasts and production demand, and managing the import of raw materials through a global supply chain
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Materials Planning
- Prioritizing all account demands, sales forecasts, contracts, customer orders, samples, prototypes and contract sales.
- Communicating the relevant details of the Materials Plan to all affected departments.
- Updating the Materials Plan to address all overdue material deliveries and notifying all stakeholders.
- Provide information for customer order fulfillment purposes, such as contract orders and large quantity orders.
- Measure and analyze actual consumption variance in the Materials Plan and report the results to senior management.
- Continuously improve and utilize strategic planning concerning long-term offshore procurement.
- Ensure fiscal responsibility in the execution of the Materials Plan, and that imported goods are reported appropriately into our system
Inventory Control
- Develop and maintain documented policies and procedures for purchasing and handling raw materials, components and finished goods accessories.
- Ensuring all raw materials are executed according to/ or the use derived from the Materials Plan.
- Support Operations to ensure that all warehousing is organized, logical, labelled correctly, neat, clean, safe, and that FIFO principles are applied.
- Ensuring and communicating with key team members that all warehousing is done in accordance with suppliers’ instructions and safety requirements.
- Supporting Product Development in supplier negotiations and major contract/price negotiations in conjunction with the company owner.
- Make recommendations and/or take action to ensure continuous improvement in inventory control systems.
- Work in partnership with the Accountant to ensure all inventory cost changes are up to date and in accordance with the company’s procedures
- Manage the planning and review of safety stock levels and target inventory levels.
- Assess all quality complaints and concerns and take corrective action
Global Supply Chain Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage international sourcing, procurement, and logistics operations to support timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and products
- Collaborate with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure compliance with international trade regulations and documentation requirements
- Monitor global inventory levels and transit timelines to mitigate risks related to delays, tariffs, and geopolitical disruptions
- Analyze global market trends, currency fluctuations, and supply chain risks to support strategic decision-making and cost optimization
- Support the development of global supply chain strategies and initiatives that align with company goals for efficiency, sustainability, and resilience.
Maintaining & Developing Professional & Technical Expertise
- Benchmarking the latest Supply Chain practices.
- Acting as the primary contact in materials management within both the supply chain department and cross-functionally throughout all departments.
Other Administrative Duties
- Approve invoices, coordinate quarterly inventory and maintain quarterly inventory in our system.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) years + of experience in manufacturing Supply Chain
- A college diploma or certificate in supply chain management, business administration or economics would be an asset
- High level of experience and knowledge in inventory control, global logistics, including ocean freight, international material sourcing and importing requirements
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, ability to work independently and/or part of a team
- Excellent communication skills: reading, speaking and writing
- Must possess great skills at multi-tasking, accuracy forecasting and a sense of urgency.

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
