Your Impact in this role:
The Supervisor, Complex is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of municipal recreation facilities. This role includes managing staff, ensuring that facilities are well-maintained, and coordinating recreational programs and services for the community. The Supervisor ensures compliance with safety standards, municipal policies, and service quality expectations while fostering a positive, inclusive environment for patrons and employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily operations of municipal recreation facilities, including scheduling, staffing, and ensuring all areas are clean, safe, and functional.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee recreational programs and events that meet the needs and interests of the community.
  • Ensure compliance with municipal policies, safety standards, and all regulatory requirements related to facility operations and recreational services.
  • Monitor and maintain facility inventory, equipment, and supplies, and make recommendations for upgrades or replacements as needed.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and suggestions in a professional manner, ensuring a positive experience for all facility users.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to facility usage, maintenance, staffing, and program participation.
  • Collaborate with other municipal departments, community organizations, and stakeholders to enhance facility services and recreational programming.
  • Assist in the development and management of budgets for facility operations and programming.
  • Promote facility use and programs through effective marketing and outreach efforts.

Leadership of Others

  • Guides and supports team members to meet operational objectives, ensuring compliance with organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Fosters a collaborative and respectful work environment by addressing concerns, providing constructive feedback, and supporting skill development.

Position Requirements

Education & Certifications:

  • Minimum of a degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Facility Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR (current).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the management or supervision of recreation facilities, preferably with prior experience in a supervisory role..

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Leadership: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of staff, ensuring they meet operational objectives and provide excellent customer service.
  • Facility Operations: Knowledge of the day-to-day management of recreation facilities, including maintenance, scheduling, and equipment handling.
  • Program Development: Experience in planning, coordinating, and evaluating recreational programs that cater to diverse community needs.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, the public, and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify operational challenges and address them proactively, ensuring continuous improvement in facility operations and services.
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service skills, with a focus on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all facility users.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Budget Management: Experience in assisting with the development and monitoring of budgets related to facility operations and programming.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily in an office setting within the municipal recreation facilities.
  • Standard hours of operation, Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility required to accommodate programming schedules and facility needs.
  • The role may involve physical activity, including lifting, setting up equipment, and inspecting facilities.
