Job Description – Youth Worker (Canada Summer Jobs 2025)
Task and responsibilities (95%):
- Plan, deliver and participate in summer youth activities including day camps, hikes, and other outdoor activities.
- Support Youth and Childcare team, including the Childcare Manager, ECE, Youth Worker and Support Worker in Schools (SWIS) with organization of files, client database update, and administrative tasks related to Newcomer Child and Youth Summer Camps and other SWIS programming.
- Learn about CIS child and youth programming and help inform development of culturally appropriate youth activities for the fall and winter season.
- Recruit youth to participate in leadership activities for fall and winter 2025-2026.
- Work with Youth and Family Worker to connect with Cowichan Tribes Youth Services, Cowichan Valley Youth Service, and other youth-serving agencies in the valley.
- Work with Communications Team to develop materials to recruit youth to youth programming.
- Be a support to youth in all aspects of the summer programming – a hands on, active supporter of children and youth and the team that supports them.

Reporting and Accountability (5%):
- Use of reporting & client management databases, including maintaining appropriate case notes.
- Keep current on system requirements, and security and privacy requirements.
- Reporting to Youth and Childcare Manager.
- Attend staff meetings and team meetings.
Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 8 weeks
Pay: $27.54 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
