Summer Camp Leader- United Way School’s Out Summer Camp
Burnaby Family Life has been changing lives for 50 years and we want you to join our United Way School’s Out Summer Camp team! We are seeking Camp Leaders for our program that runs from July 3, 2025 – August 15, 2025.
This camp is more than just a summer camp, the bonds formed within the community during camp will not only aid participants in transitioning back to school in September, but a key focus of our program is to cultivate lasting relationships beyond camp experience. Additionally, the program will involve sharing various community resources to enhance learning and growth.
Job Outline:
Plan and lead as part of a team, seven weeks of camps for children aged six to 12 years. This summer camp program is designed to create community connections and family engagement for newcomer youth in Burnaby. The Camp Leaders will ensure a safe, fun, and rewarding experience for the children attending camp.
Responsibilities include various aspects of planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising summer day camps for children. We are seeking applicants with experience working with diverse groups of children, preferably in a camp, child care, or recreation/leisure environment.
Location: 7355 Canada Way, Burnaby
Hours: 35 hours/week, Mon.-Fri.
Wage: $21/hour
Start Date: July 2, 2025
End Date: August 15, 2025
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills and have the ability to maintain a healthy and safe environment for staff and children
- Minimum one year experience leading, organizing and planning kids and youth programs
- Second language an asset
- knowledge of common sports, games, crafts, cooking etc. and be able to make programs fun and engaging for participants
- Be able to communicate in an effective, professional and friendly manner
- Valid Emergency First Aid Certificate and Food Safe Level 1 Certification (paid training grants provided by BFL for these two courses if needed)
- Clear Criminal Records Check
- Skills and education related to health care, special needs, curriculum development, and education are assets.
- School Age certificate, ECE assistant and/or Responsible Adult qualifications an asset
