The Royal Saskatchewan Museum is seeking a candidate interested in working in Visitor Services and Public Programming through the fall/winter. To be eligible for this opportunity, you must be a full-time student in post-secondary education.
The position requires excellence in customer service supporting the visitor experience at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. Students generally work one shift per week, on either Saturday or Sunday. The successful candidate will have availability on weekends, stat holidays and during elementary/high school breaks (i.e., Christmas break, February break and Easter break). Employment will run from September 2025 to April 2026.
The successful candidate will be a reliable, energetic, team player with a strong work ethic. You will need to be able to work with visitors of all ages within a busy, ever-changing environment.
Key duties will include:
- Visitor reception duties; welcoming and orienting visitors to the museum.
- Engaging with visitors in museum galleries and Learning Lab; sharing information.
- Opening and closing the museum on a daily basis and ensuring visitors observe rules of behavior.
- Light housekeeping of museum classroom spaces.
Customer service experience and/or experience working with children will be considered an asset.
The schedule is best suited for students in post-secondary studies. Education in the areas of Paleontology, Biology, Environmental Studies, Indigenous Studies, Archaeology, Museum Studies, and Education will be considered assets.
You must be able to set up signage and stanchions, including lifting and moving tables and other objects less than 10kgs, and lead groups through galleries and public spaces. You would be communicating in a busy and noisy environment.
CPR and Standard First Aid training will be considered an asset but not a requirement.
