POSITION SUMMARY

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers to optimize cost, quality, delivery, and service. This role supports organizational goals by developing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, and fostering long-term supplier partnerships for all aspects of Archmill’s business operations in both Canada and the US. The Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sourcing initiatives with business objectives and drive continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supplier Management & Evaluation

    • Identify and qualify new suppliers through rigorous evaluation and risk assessment.
    • Monitor supplier performance using KPIs and vendor scorecards and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
    • Meet with critical suppliers from time to time to evaluate quality and delivery score metrics.

Sourcing Strategy & Execution

    • Conduct the annual RFQ process for standard item procurements leveraging Archmill's growing volume forecast to enhance cost efficiency, terms, lead time, inventory management, and rebates.
    • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that align with business needs and cost-saving goals.
    • Develop processes and standards to ensure the timely availability of quality materials and services at competitive prices. Continuously improve sourcing processes and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce lead times.
    • Conduct market analysis to stay ahead of industry trends, innovations, and pricing changes.
    • Navigate potential tariff implications and develop strategies to mitigate risk.
    • Analyze spend data and identify opportunities for consolidation, efficiency or cost optimization.
    • Prepare and present sourcing reports, metrics, and savings results to stakeholders.
    • Work closely with operations, finance, engineering, and other departments to understand requirements and ensure effective sourcing.
    • Participate in cross-functional teams for cost-reduction and supplier rationalization projects.
    • Work within ERP system (Business Central) to streamline & maximize purchasing efficiency.
    • Process accurate and timely purchase orders and material requisitions ensuring purchasing falls within budgeted cost and meets project timelines. Communicate any lead times and constraints to applicable stakeholders.
    • Support the implementation of procurement systems and tools.

Contract Negotiation & Compliance

    • Ensure contracts are aligned with project specifications, budget constraints, and timelines in addition to negotiating terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable conditions
    • Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, tariff implications and legal requirements.
    • Maintain SDS repository for all hazardous materials procured.
    • Hold vendors to contract terms and conditions.
    • Work closely with clearing/forwarding agents ensuring cross-border transportation compliance.
    • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field would be considered

an asset.

  • 5+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain roles, preferably within Canada and the US.
  • Technical knowledge of construction and/or millwork categories would be considered an asset.
  • Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/procurement systems (e.g., Business Central)
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and project management abilities.
  • Solutions-minded, always finding a way through challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and initiatives concurrently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • In Person First Workplace - approximately 1 day/week remote based on role requirements.
  • Will be required to remain stationary at desk for extended periods of time.
  • At times, required to work in a construction/production setting which contains loud noises.
  • At times, required to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Travel may be required on occasion to meet with vendors, suppliers and to visit project sites.
