The Strategic Marketing Lead is a senior member of a team of professionals who advance the goals of Mount Royal University through centralized and coordinated marketing and communications (MarCom). The successful candidate will lead a small team and roll up their sleeves to primarily help create demand for the ancillary and revenue generating areas of MRU.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the successful candidate will play a critical role in driving the institution’s success in several high priority areas of the Strategic Plan.
The Strategic Marketing Lead continually seeks new opportunities to enhance Mount Royal’s reputation and secure increased affinity for the institution. This position works closely with internal stakeholders (deans, directors, chairs, managers, other departments, students, committees and co-workers) and external contacts (suppliers and partner organizations).
The Strategic Marketing Lead provides strategic marketing advice, including identifying opportunities, analyzing challenges and seeking creative solutions. The incumbent develops and implements marketing and communications plans, ensuring projects are on time and on budget.
Along with having a detailed knowledge of the institution’s Strategic Plan and the needs of clients, the Strategic Marketing Lead will be relied upon to have experience with a wide range of advertising tools, knowledge of marketing and brand best practices, trends and developments. This skill and knowledge is used to transform creative concepts into high-quality digital campaigns, websites, and traditional collateral materials.
This position is a full -time, one-year, parental leave replacement term.
Responsibilities
- Provide institutional client support and advancement
- Being the first point of contact with clients who have a broad institutional scope
- Conducting Strategic Planning
- Developing and implementing marketing and communications plans and campaigns for clients
- Specific tasks will vary by project and may include: idea generation and brainstorming, project coordination, research, providing constructive feedback on draft copy or design, and collaboration or consensus-building within teams.
- Supervision of a minimum of three full-time direct reports, casual or interim staff
- Support needs of other client areas, with input from the institutional perspective
- Work with other Strategists and Communications Officers to achieve broadly-supported activities, such as campaigns, events and institutional celebrations
- Share relevant marketing and brand best practices, trends and developments, including offering opportunities for marketing training to MRU staff and faculty
Qualifications
- Degree or Applied Degree in Marketing, Business, Public Relations or Communications
- Project Management certification is an asset
- 5 - 8 years of related experience, including experience:
- Working in a marketing client relationship and project management role
- Working in complex workplaces with many key stakeholders
- Collaborating on multiple projects, with diverse stakeholders and within tight time-frames
- Experience working in post-secondary, or other non-profit or public organization would be an asset
- Experience overseeing the work of others, through direct or indirect supervision is also considered an asset
Salary: $76,640 -$ 96,963 per annum
