Synergy Kids is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. The successful applicant will work in-person at our Oakville location to provide services to children and teens with speech, language, and communication disorders. Most of our clients have an ASD diagnosis and are accessing the Ontario Autism Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech and language disorders, as well as developing individualized treatment plans for each patient. The SLP will collaborate with ABA and Occupational Therapy staff as well as family members to set treatment goals. Synergy Kids uses in-person and remote clinical supervision practices such as telehealth, video recordings, electronic health records, etc. to supervise direct intervention. The Speech Language Pathologist must have excellent communication skills and be able to work with a diverse population of patients who have autism or other developmental differences. The ideal candidate will be seeking part time employment leading to full time hours. Working days are flexible, hours are primarily evenings or a weekend shift. This person will be looking to grow professionally as a valued team member of Synergy Kids. Our facility is open 7 days a week; a schedule of 4-24 hours per week is available with flexibility of days/times for your shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and youth
- Clinically supervise Communicative Disorders Assistants implementing treatment goals
- Develop individualized treatment plans for clients
- Provide coaching to families and caregivers as well as peers in ABA or OT
- Collaborate with other professionals such Occupational Therapists or ABA Therapists to develop treatment plans
- Administer and interpret standardized assessments
- Work 1:1 with clients to achieve their speech and language goals as outlined on the treatment plan. Sessions may target language, articulation, motor speech or social communication
- Use of electronic health record, Jane.app for clinical notes and scheduling
- Facilitate 10-minute discovery calls with perspective clients prior to service starting
- Oversee the work of Communicative Disorders Assistants as it relates to clients on your caseload
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or an equivalent recognized by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.
- Must maintain current with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.
- Minimum one year experience after graduation providing professional speech/language therapy services to individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as autism.
- Knowledge of the theories, methods, and techniques of developing speech and language programs for individuals with developmental disabilities
- Experience supervising supportive personnel is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work in the field independently, without daily supervision, while planning and delivering speech and language services
- Flexible problem solver.
- Collaboration with ABA, Occupational Therapy and Social Work teams
- PROMPT training is an asset
- Hanen workshop(s)/ training is an asset
HOURS OF WORK: Monday-Friday with some weekend hours as needed (likely 2 shifts per quarter on a weekend). Flexibility to work from home 2 half days per week. A preference for one evening shift per week: 3-7pm or 4-8pm. The start date is list as October 1st as this the is latest we would want to fill the role. The start date is flexible for the right applicant.
HOURLY RATE: Varies based on experience, training required and on-site work availability. $40-$250 per hour. The rate of pay per hour is dependent on the applicant's preference to work as an Independent Contractor or employee.
