- The primary purpose for this position is to provide speech and language pathology assessment and treatment to patients to enable patients to achieve an optimal level of funtional independence as well as to work as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary team with regards to patient management and programming
- Using a Patient Centered approach, assess the patient, establish treatment goals with the patient, and formulate and implement a plan in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other members of the health care team
- Maintain a clinical caseload consistent with departmental standards and the guidelines of the College of Audiology and Speech and Language Pathology of Ontario (CASLPO)
- Maintain clinical documentation in accordance with departmental standards, Health Record requirements, and standards of the CASLPO
- Communicate witht he interdisciplinary team regarding the patient's goals, plan, and progress by attending interdisciplinary team meetings, completing documentation, and through informal/formal methods of communication.
- Attend and participate in planning departmental and program goals and objectives, including but not limited to quality assurance, risk assessment, and resource utilization
- Patricipate in ongoing continuing educations activities such as departmental and hosptial in-services and/or community educational opportunities
- Demonstrates QCH valuess: collaboration, accountability, innovation, respect
- Bachelor's Honours Degree in Speech Language Pathology with Masters Equivalent or Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Membership in good standing of the College of Audiology and Speech and Language Pathology of Ontario
- Basic Cardiac Life Saver (BCLS)
- Computer skills - email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc
- Post-graduate Speech and Language Pathology treatment courses
- MBSimp training/Videofluroscopy experience
- Experience in a general hosital setting
- Experience working in an interdisciplinary team
- Experience with VFSS
