About the job you’re considering
As a Backend Engineer, you will contribute to one of the world’s largest social media platforms, handling petabytes of data daily. You’ll be part of a self-organized R&D team working in a dynamic and innovative environment. Your role involves solving complex technical challenges and enhancing a Big Data processing platform that supports software used by hundreds of millions of users.
You Role:
• Collaborate with the Team Lead to gather tasks and prepare functional/design specifications.
• Ensure timely delivery of assigned areas with high-quality standards.
• Provide task estimations and contribute to project planning.
• Evaluate and optimize existing data systems and metadata models.
• Develop best practices for data consistency and system efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and enhance data systems for performance and reliability.
• Translate business drivers and analytical use-cases into data products.
• Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based data pipelines.
• Identify and mitigate risks within your area of responsibility.
• Report on readiness and quality, and escalate critical issues when necessary.
• Conduct code reviews and establish coding standards and guidelines.
• Propose technical and functional improvements to enhance product value.
Your skills and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer with strong Python skills.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes (K8s), and AWS.
• Strong understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
Nice to Have
• Experience with Big Data tools and technologies, especially Apache Spark.
