Job Summary
JVF Solutions Ltd. stands as a well-established, multi-disciplinary development manager, project manager, and construction manager firm catering to owners' and consultants needs. Currently, JVF is seeking an accomplished Superintendent to play a pivotal role in overseeing commercial office and warehouse construction projects ranging up to 20 million across Western Canada.

As a Superintendent within JVF, you'll take the helm of comprehensive construction management, steering design, budget, and schedule alongside Project Managers, Owners, Engineers, and Architects. Your role isn't just about delivering projects; it's about orchestrating timely and budget- conscious delivery, ensuring the seamless execution of complex endeavors.
Your expertise will play a pivotal role in providing strategic counsel to senior management, foreseeing and resolving potential issues, disruptions, and complexities, and ensuring projects stay on track. Collaboratively, we'll scrutinize, interpret, and forecast project cost reports, aligning them with initial estimates to maintain a positive cash flow.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish and ensure a safe and clean job site per company standards
- Monitor site activities to ensure safe work practices
- Participate in preconstruction services including development of site logistics, project schedule and planning, design and constructability review and budget development
- Responsible for site staffing, quality control, safety, sub-trade coordination, project scheduling, field cost control and safety
- Determine method of construction, material quantities, equipment and work schedule
- Coordinate sub-contractors daily and chair weekly subcontractor meetings
- Manage work flow to ensure work complies with project contractual requirements, drawings, specifications and schedule
- Identify, track and implement RFI’s in conjunction with project team
- Review project submittals and integrate requirements into the contract documents.
- Monitor compliance with site safety program
- Participate in project cost forecast reviews with the project manager
- Complete safety and job-related paperwork
- Manage field staff including misc labour and carpentry work
- Read and confirm plans, drawings and ensure design is being followed
- Oversee change order implementation and ensure the project is progressing on schedule
- Implement quality control procedures and track subcontractor corrective actions
- Troubleshoot and resolve any errors or irregularities
- Monitor shipments and supplies and ensure adequate inventory of goods and equipment
- Consult and collaborate with owners, architects and engineers regarding plans, specifications and provide input and practical solutions on site
- Provide daily progress updates to Project Manager
- Deal with any unexpected issues efficiently and mitigate risks
- Attend to other duties as required by the Project Manager
- Create and maintain site as-built documents.
Requirements & Skills
- Trade or construction management certificate
- Minimum 5 years of related experience, 10 years preferred
- Experience in light industrial and commercial construction.
- Proven ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and scheduling software
- Knowledge of all phases of building construction and safety legislation
- Strong comprehension of tender documents, specifications and drawings
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication
- Strong ability to organize and prioritize
- Competency in using power and hand tools
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Solid understanding and ability to manage all construction trades and staff
- Able to read and interpret contracts, blueprints, drawings and plans
- Self-motivated and exceptional time management skill
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of health and safety standards and practices
- CSTS and WHMIS Certifications
- Standard First Aid Certification
- Valid Alberta’s driving license and reliable transportation
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, purchasing
