Pioneer Construction is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Service Truck Driver in Thunder Bay, Ontario. This is a full-time seasonal position available with a pension and benefit package, as well as ongoing driver training and room for growth and advancement. All hires will be trained regardless of experience.
JOB DUTIES:
- Safely load, tie down, immobilize, and secure all equipment and materials in a safe manner in accordance with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) guidelines.
- Assist in loading and unloading equipment.
- Maintain accurate electronic hours of service and vehicle inspection logs in accordance with MTO regulations, and all related delivery paperwork.
- Perform daily pre-op and post-op inspections on equipment and attend daily safety meetings.
- Constantly monitor vehicle fitness, load security, and ever-changing conditions.
- Identify, report and correct hazards.
- Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment.
- Team player and display professionalism toward our company and customers.
- Physical work including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, crouching, climbing, crawling and reaching repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.
- Work schedule including evenings and weekends when required.
- Travel to various job sites including out of town with overnight stays when required.
- Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Valid AZ license with a clean driver’s abstract is required
- Minimum 1 year AZ driving experience.
- Experience driving a service truck is considered an asset.
- Surface Miner Common Core is considered an asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to operate service truck in winter and summer works, operations, and maintenance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Including the ability to take direction from supervisors.
- Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a cheerful outlook and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
